Boss Babes Interview: Nikki's Talk
Today we're talking to Nikhila, a lifestyle blogger from Vijayawada, India who is using her experience as a wheelchair bound person to inspire others. On her blog, Nikki's Talk, she writes about over coming fears, life lessons, and how to find the perfect Mother's Day gift.
Tell me a little bit about yourself, do you have any nicknames? What do you do when you’re not blogging?
I’m Nikhila and I am a lifestyle blogger. My friends call me Nikki and my mom calls me Chinnu. And when I’m not blogging I read (either my course books or some other)
What’s it like living in India? What does a typical day look like for you?
Living in India is freedom. It’s always buzzing with something or the other that will never let you feel alone. A typical day for me is like, watching movies all day. I’m a total movie buff.
How long have you been blogging?
It’s hardly 3 months. I’ve started blogging on march 16th of this year. Actually I’ve never thought I’d be doing this and now I’m really loving it.
When we talked, you had mentioned that you are a wheelchair bound person and have started your blog, Nikki’s Talk, to prove yourself. Do you think your blog has helped you do that? What kind of opportunities has blogging brought you?
Yeah, it really helped me. As it’s just been hardly 3 months I haven’t got any monetary opportunities but it gave me a lot of appreciation from around the globe and immense satisfaction.
How did you choose to focus on your niche?
Being a wheelchair bound I have got to see life in a different perspective and I wanted to share it with others. When I see people suffer from mental illness like jealousy, hatred, pessimism, inferiority complex etc more than any physical illness, I chose this niche to help people lead a happy and confident life. I want to make a difference.
What are your goals for your blog?
One appreciation and two money. Actually appreciation would have been my only goal but unfortunately people measure success in monetary terms, so money is also one of my goals.
Your last post was about Ignorance, can you share a story about a time when someone’s ignorance impacted you?
Everything that’s done to hurt you is ignorance. Ignorance to your feelings. Like everyone I too had many experiences with that. I'M NO EXCEPTION. People have intentionally hurt me. If I get started with it, this interview wouldn’t be enough. Lol
You write a lot about being outgoing and “just going for it” like your, “Ways to Hop out of Your Comfort Zone” Blog, do you consider yourself an outgoing person? Does anything intimidate you?
Haha, Um, I’m somewhere in between being an introvert and outgoing but definitely out of my comfy zone.
Your “About Me” says you’re in college, but your blog is so active! How do you balance your coursework and your blog?
I’ve completed graduation 3 years ago and I’m currently studying cost accountancy final stage. And I love blogging too. But these days I’m loving blogging a bit more so, I tend to do this more often.
What are your plans after college?
I don’t know, I’m just going with the flow. My plans have never worked but fortunately God has always a better plan (than mine) for me. I’ll let the future unfold itself.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell readers?
Just love yourself and be yourself. There's always something good in everything that happens.
